If you've ever wondered about how to get more back links to your web pages and website, and the importance of doing such, I have provided below here a few simple techniques that will help you get started in a back link building system. I am assuming you already realize the value of back linking, so we won't get into that too much here. This is generally a guide as to how to get back links.
First let's make sure we're on the same page, and we understand were back going gets. A back link to your website is a one-way link from another website that utilizes hypertext markup language, allowing the reader of that page to click on the link where that action will send the reader to your website page. A back link can only be targeted to a single webpage, whether that be your main index page or one of your inner pages within your website.
No matter what kind of website or product you are marketing, there is an online community built around that subject. This could be anything from lawn mowers to your latest novel on Amazon. A community could include forums, blogs and social sites like Facebook and twitter. If you are marketing it, there isn't not he is talking about it. So one of the first things you have to do is start searching on these sites and simply getting involved.
Most forums allow you to display a link in your signature. Start getting involved by helping people with these related topics in forums by answering their questions or discussing related topics of the day. This does not mean you should be spamming forums with links with in your posts, but rather sincerely helping people. If you are good at this, people will follow your signature link and you will become a preferred to source, without being labeled a marketer.
Within Facebook and twitter you can also search for your term of reference. On my twitter client, who sweet, I have a running search for terms that I am interested in. You can respond directly to social client users, which will allow your responses to be seen systemwide by anyone searching for terms. This is a great way to get followers in twitter as well as allowing you again to be the go to person on a particular subject. When using social media, go into it thinking of helping people not posting links to your marketing pages. If you are helpful and seen as a social asset, those people in need will seek you out and find more of your content online.
Speaking of twitter, you can do a very efficient, blog search using search.twitter.com. All you have to do is insert blog in front of your search term, and you will find all of the latest relevant blog posts within that subject. The reason for this is because twitter users will often tweak their latest blog posts. If it is related to your marketing efforts, you can go right to that blog and post helpful comments on the very page. Now some of these blogs, even most of them will have no follow tags, meaning it doesn't give a lot of reference to any links that you put in your signature when commenting on a blog. However, that does not mean it will be a useless effort, because there will be other targeted traffic going to that blog seeking the same information, that you may have offered within the comment. They will then be able to click your link and land on your page again is targeted traffic, for a very specific purpose. You will find these types of follow-through was very highly targeted to your content.
We can't forget about articles and videos either when it comes to back linking. When you put out content, specifically quality content, whether it be articles or videos, you're laying the foundation for yourself to be seen as a leader in a particular niche market. Submitting your article to article directories, with proper link back structure is going to help you build a long term back linking program because article directories encourage other webmasters to use these articles on their sites as well. When they use these articles you are instantly getting another back link to your website. This can go on for weeks, months even years, where article that you place on these directories are still being picked up by webmasters. That is really an excellent strategy to take advantage of because it is an incremental back link program that requires no maintenance on your part.
The same is for videos as well except that the big sites, like YouTube.com have a no-fault policy as well. Here again, however, if the number of times the video is viewed on YouTube and other webmasters sites that embed that video that is going to get it direct traffic. Not necessarily a back link, but it is a reference to your site for people wanting to know more, seeing this quality content, and then seeking you out because of it. Just be sure to have your videos branded. So that the viewer, no matter where the viewer is watching the video will know where to go to find the source.
