Forced to upgrade to Windows 7, now I am holding off. Rather aggravating to have to pay for this after such a miserable relationship with VISTA.

Windows 7 is $200!!

In my anticipation for windows 7 release, I really didn't think about the cost of upgrading. I simply wanted to get rid of my VISTA OS and get on with my life. Now several months after the release of Windows 7, I am still on the fence because a few things have changed sine then. Firstly, I use my VISTA machine (his name is Maximus) less now since I have been spending more and more intimate time with my iMac (her name is Cleopatra). Hence the aggravations of VISTA have burned my soup a little less.

3 computers and 4 monitors, but only one favorite.

It's true. I have 3 computers, 4 monitors, and 2 internet connections on my office desk. Here is a recent broadcast from my BlogTV channel that shows my set-up. Yes, I do use them all. I have one older computer, I guess 3 years or so (Caesar) that still runs XP, rather smoothly I might add. I really just use it to play and record online poker tournament sessions. So that computer is good to go.

But my VISTA, which was a top-of-the-line DELL system just last year, well I had high hopes for most of video production. With the many problems I kept having concerning VISTA, I ended up getting my iMac about 8 months ago I suppose.

My iMac is taking over.

Just like the REAL Cleopatra, this one seems to be taking charge. I find myself using it more and more. Originally purchased with a view to video production, I now use it for ebooks, graphics, twitter (seesmic), and have produced (to my amazement) some quality tunes using GarageBand for my video intros. I also installed a program called Parallels which allows me to run any PC program on my mac. It basically installs a windows OS on my Mac and I just boot it up whenever I need it. I actually run XP too, because i did not want anything VISTA to come anywhere near my iMac.

The Windows 7 dilemma.

So that is my dilemma. Do I pay the $200 and basically tell Microsoft, ok you got me, I am stuck with nowhere to go. Or do I put up with VISTA until I eventually displace that machine with another iMac?
