Apple Macs and their impact on PC sales overall, are defining the market with performance and features, rather than RAM and HD. I mean when you compare a PC that's what you look at, when you add a iMac into the equation the comparisons aren't so clear cut anymore.

Mac sales jump 23% in US alone.

Windows 7 updtae costs $300 Yikes!

Having a clear differentiation in the market has clearly been Apple's objective all along, but combined with the alluring power of iTunes and iPods, the Macs have cut into consumers thought process in to a greater extent. The biggest losers of this are companies like Dell and HP even though they are still market leaders in PC sales, their margins are nowhere near the levels of a Mac because people WILL pay more for what the Mac can bring them.

The other part of this shift is that Windows 7 costs $300 and PC owners who have put up with the headaches of Windows Vista are now being asked to fork out even more for something that should have been much better in the first place.

The old argument of not having enough software for your Mac is lame to begin with, but can now be simply laughed off with great bridge software like Parallels that allows you to run ANY PC software on your Mac, and from my own personal experience with more hardware stability than if you were running the software on a PC!

Macs are cool.

Let's not forget some brilliant advertising with younger versions of Bill Gates and Steve Jobs squaring off in comical, off beat conversations. Yeah, macs are cool, but they also make work a lot more fun.
